The DÖRR SATURN 900 is the perfect telescope for those who want to explore the night sky with precision and detail. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced stargazer, this reflector telescope offers stunning observations and a truly immersive viewing experience.

It’s sturdy, easy to operate, and comes fully equipped with a tripod, EQ-2 mount, finder scope, three eyepieces, 2x Barlow lens, and a moon filter.

With the SATURN 900, you can observe the Moon, planets, stars, bright nebulae, and both open and globular star clusters. Even fine details like Saturn’s rings or Jupiter’s moons become visible – a true delight for every astronomy enthusiast!

Proven Newtonian Design

The DÖRR SATURN 900 features the classic Newtonian reflector design – a configuration trusted by astronomers for generations. With a 900 mm focal length and 114 mm aperture, it delivers excellent optical performance while remaining compact and easy to transport.

By redirecting light via the primary and secondary mirrors, colour distortions are eliminated. The result: clear, high-contrast, true-colour images. The side-mounted eyepiece also provides comfortable and fatigue-free viewing, without awkward bending.

Since mirrors are easier to produce than lenses, the SATURN 900 offers exceptional optical quality at an excellent price-performance ratio.

Aluminum Tripod – Stable Yet Lightweight

The aluminum tripod combines high stability with low weight, making it ideal for transport or outdoor observation at different locations. The adjustable tripod legs allow you to observe comfortably in an upright position, regardless of your height.

handy accessory tray between the tripod legs provides space for eyepieces and accessories – everything you need within easy reach during your sessions.

EQ-2 Equatorial Mount – Smooth and Precise Tracking

The EQ-2 parallactic mount enables you to track celestial objects precisely. After aligning the mount with Earth’s axis, you only need to adjust one axis to compensate for Earth’s rotation – keeping your target steadily centred in view. Manual fine adjustments are made using flexible control cables with knobs, ensuring smooth and precise movement.
A sliding counterweight and solid tube clamps keep the telescope perfectly balanced and stable.

The EQ-2 mount is durable, reliable, and ideal for high-magnification observations or extended viewing sessions.

Setup & Operation – Fast, Easy, Intuitive

The SATURN 900 is designed for quick setup and straightforward operation. With just a few steps, you’re ready to explore the night sky. Tracking is simple: guide your target with one control knob while adjusting focus precisely using dual fine-tuning wheels.

Finder Scope 5x24 – Quick Target Acquisition

The 5x24 finder scope, mounted parallel to the main telescope tube, helps you locate celestial objects quickly and easily. After initial alignment, its 5x magnification provides a wide field of view, allowing you to spot your target easily and then fine-tune it through the main telescope.

Eyepieces – For a Clear View

Eyepieces are a key component of any optical system, determining magnification and the field of view. The SATURN 900 includes three eyepieces, each with a standard 1.25“-barrel diameter, giving you the flexibility to observe different celestial objects:

  • SR4 (4 mm, Super Ramsden) – double-lens eyepiece, 225x magnification
  • H12.5 (12.5 mm, Huygens) – double-lens eyepiece, 72x magnification
  • H20 (20 mm, Huygens) – double-lens eyepiece, 45x magnification

With this selection, you can easily switch between high magnification for planetary detail and wider views for star fields and nebulae.

2x Barlow Lens – Double the Magnification

The included 2x Barlow lens fits between the telescope and eyepiece, doubling the magnification for even greater detail:

  • SR4 → 450x*
  • H12.5 → 144x
  • H20 → 90x

*The recommended maximum magnification for the SATURN 900 is around 228x. Higher values are technically possible, but due to atmospheric turbulence, they often result in blurred images.

Moon Filter – For Comfortable Observations

The included moon filter simply screws into the eyepiece. It reduces brightness – similar to wearing sunglasses – and ensures comfortable, high-contrast lunar viewing, especially during a full Moon. It’s also useful for reducing glare when observing bright planets like Venus.

⚠️ Important Safety Notes
  • Never look directly at or near the Sun through the telescope or finder scope – this can cause permanent eye damage or blindness.
  • Not a toy! Children must use the telescope only under the supervision of an adult.
