With the METEOR 700, you’ll observe the Moon, planets, stars, and star clusters with impressive clarity – even on your very first night under the stars.
Proven Newtonian Design
The DÖRR METEOR 700 is a classic Newtonian reflector telescope, a time-tested optical design perfected over generations. With its 700 mm focal length and 76 mm aperture, it delivers excellent optical performance in a compact and portable format.
By redirecting the light through the primary and secondary mirrors, the system avoids chromatic aberration. The result: sharp, high-contrast, and true-colour images.
The side-mounted eyepiece ensures comfortable viewing, without awkward bending or straining.
Since mirrors are simpler to produce than lenses, the METEOR 700 offers outstanding value for money – perfect for beginners who still demand high optical quality.

Aluminum Tripod – Stable Yet Lightweight
The aluminum tripod combines stability with low weight, making it ideal for transport or use at different observing locations. The adjustable legs allow you to observe comfortably in an upright position, regardless of your height.
A central accessory tray between the tripod legs provides space for eyepieces and accessories – keeping everything close at hand while you explore the night sky.
AZ-1 Mount – Simple, Fast, and Beginner-Friendly
The AZ-1 fork-style altazimuth mount is particularly intuitive to use, making it perfect for newcomers. You can easily guide the telescope along two axes:
- Azimuth axis – for horizontal movement (direction)
- Altitude axis – for vertical movement (height above the horizon)
A fine adjustment screw allows precise altitude control.
Since the mount does not require polar alignment, you can simply set it up and start observing immediately – no complicated preparation needed.
Setup & Operation – Quick, Easy, Intuitive
The METEOR 700 is designed for fast assembly and simple operation. All controls are ergonomically placed and easy to reach, allowing you to adjust the focus precisely with dual fine-tuning knobs.
Whether for children, teenagers, or adults, the METEOR 700 offers fun and exciting observations for the whole family – the perfect telescope to start your astronomy journey.
Finder Scope 5x24 – For Quick Target Acquisition
Mounted parallel to the main tube, the 5x24 finder scope helps you locate celestial objects quickly and easily. After initial alignment, its 5x magnification provides a wide field of view, allowing you to spot your target easily and then fine-tune the focus through the main telescope.

Eyepieces – For Crystal-Clear Views
Eyepieces are an essential part of any optical system, determining the magnification and field of view. The METEOR 700 includes four eyepieces with a standard 1.25“-barrel diameter, giving you flexibility for different observation types:
- SR4 (4 mm, Super Ramsden) – double-lens eyepiece for 175x magnification*
SR6 (6 mm, Super Ramsden) – double-lens eyepiece for 117x magnification*
H12.5 (12.5 mm, Huygens) – double-lens eyepiece for 56x magnification
H20 (20 mm, Huygens) – double-lens eyepiece for 35x magnification
With this selection, you can switch between high magnification for planetary detail and wide-field views of star clusters or constellations.
2x Barlow Lens – Double the Magnification
The included 2x Barlow lens fits between the telescope and eyepiece, doubling your magnification for even more detailed views:
- SR4 → 350x*
- SR6 → 234x*
- H12.5 → 112x
- H20 → 70x
*The recommended maximum magnification for the METEOR 700 is approximately 152x.
Higher values are technically possible but may result in blurred images due to atmospheric turbulence.
Moon Filter – For Comfortable Viewing
The included moon filter simply screws into the eyepiece. It reduces brightness – much like a pair of sunglasses – for pleasant, glare-free lunar observations, especially during the full Moon. It’s also useful when observing bright objects such as Venus.
